Lady Cards win in five

Bloomfield and Owen Valley battled for five sets, with the host Lady Cardinals finally winning 25-17, 16-25, 25-20, 22-25, 15-12 in a high school volleyball match at Guy Glover Gymnasium Wednesday night.

It was the 10th victory, against 15 losses, for the Lady Cardinals.

Tiffany LaChance had 20 kills and 23 digs. Nicole Hughes led with 25 digs.

Macayla Myers tallied five digs and four kills.

"This was a really good match, especially right before the sectional," said BHS coach Susie Schulte. "Even the officials said it was a very enjoyable match to watch.

"You had two pretty evenly matched teams and we fought through it and won."

The junior varsity lost 25-16, 25-9.

Bloomfield will play at Shoals Thursday (tonight) and then host North Knox Saturday morning to conclude the regular season. The Lady Cards will play Sullivan at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the opening match of the Class 2A Eastern Greene Sectional.
