Thoughts about tourism

Dear Editor:

I just wanted to set the record straight about how our family feels about tourism in our county. We are very much in favor of promoting tourism just not at the expense of charging an innkeepers tax to the guest that come and lodge in Greene County. Everybody is taxed enough. We are always open and more than willing to relay any information about our county that is asked. We have information available at the Park Inn for the convenience of anyone interested. This would not cost the county a salary to someone and the cost of advertising business would depend on how each business and recreation sight wished to promote their business or recreation. My husband and I have been Linton residents for many years and have raised our three sons here. We want our county to be a place that people come to visit as much as anyone else. Renting rooms is our business and I am sure that an innkeepers tax will hurt us and the county no matter what others seem to think. t is easy to be for something that will not affect you personally, especially when unrealistic information is presented. We do love our county and wish nothing but the best for all the businesses and recreation sights in our county.

Sincerely,

Denise Beck

Sexton family is thankful

for support

Dear Editor,

Members of the Sexton family would like to thank everyone for their support over the last few months. As many are aware, John Sexton, husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, passed away this April after a prolonged hospitalization. Though times have been tough, and our grief substantial, it has been the outpouring of care and affection we've received from friends and neighbors that have made it bearable. While in the hospital, John was the recipient of many cards and notes and appreciated them greatly. We did as well. Additionally, those who came to his service and passed along notes of sympathy, etc. Thank you, so very much.

Sincerely,

The Sexton Family
