Linton-Stockton school trustees approve several sponsors, coaches
Linton-Stockton Board of School Trustees approved a long list of athletic and extracurricular appointments for the forthcoming 2012-13 school year and beyond.
Superintendent Nick Karazsia requested school trustees approve a list five pages long of new and returning sponsors. The board complied, voting 4-0 for approval. Trustee John D. Preble was absent from Monday's meeting.
Some vacancies remain, and will be filled later in the year, per the discussion.
Among the athletic department appointments:
* Shauna Kendall will continue as cheerleading sponsor.
* Joey Hart will remain boys varsity basketball coach through 2013.
* Noah Hawkins will remain boys assistant varsity basketball coach.
* Kyle Delph will be replaced by Chris Kosiac as freshman basketball coach.
* Brad McKinney will remain as girls varsity basketball coach through 2014.
* Chaz Hendrix will remain girls assistant varsity coach.
* Steve Weber will remain head football coach through 2014.
* Michael Hayden will remain first assistant football coach.
* Mark Gennicks will remain second assistant football coach.
* Brian Oliver will remain third assistant football coach.
* Joe Lorig will remain fourth assistant football coach.
* Aaron Lynn will remain boys and girls head track coach through 2014.
* Brian Oliver will remain boys and girls assistant track coach.
* Jeff Franklin will remain boys cross country coach.
* While David Wence served as girls cross country coach this past year, no coach was recommended in Monday's proposal.
* While Derek Bradbury served as boys golf coach this past year, no coach was specifically recommended in Monday's proposal.
* Chaz Hendrix will continue as girls golf coach through 2014.
* Brad McKinney will continue as boys tennis coach through 2014.
* Nathan Skinner is presently girls tennis coach but no coach has been nominated in the list presented Monday.
* Matt Fougerousse is presently boys varsity baseball coach but no coach has been nominated in the list presented Monday.
* Kevin Allen is presently boys junior varsity baseball coach but no coach has been nominated in the list presented Monday.
* Ruan Fougerousse is presently girls varsity softball coach but no coach has been nominated in the list presented Monday.
* Chris Followell is presently girls assistant varsity softball coach but no coach has been nominated in the list presented Monday.
* Jill Fougerousse will continue as varsity volleyball coach.
* Jaqui Suthard will remain as junior varsity volleyball coach.
* While Megan Barnes served this year as freshman volleyball coach, no coach was nominated for that post as yet on the list of approved appointments.
* Steve Weber will remain weightlifting coach.
In the elementary school, trustees also approved the following extracurricular athletic positions:
* Bart Berns and Cain Cooksey will remain as athletic directors and elementary basketball coordinators.
* Darren Woodward will remain as the boys 5th grade basketball coach.
* Jared Chambers will remain as the boys 6th grade basketball coach.
* Holly Kirk will remain as the girls 5th and 6th grade basketball coach.
In the elementary school, trustees also approved the following extracurricular activity recommendations:
* Karman Albright will replace Belinda Fonderhide as curriculum/grade chair for kindergarten.
* Crystal Hazelwood will continue as curriculum/grade chair for first grade.
* Danielle Goodman will continue as curriculum/grade chair for second grade.
* Lori Markle will continue as curriculum/grade chair for third grade.
* Jen Le Dune will continue as curriculum/grade chair for fourth grade.
* Mary Ann Witty will continue as curriculum/grade chair for fifth grade.
* Nichole Hughes will continue as categorical curriculum/grade chair.
* Marc Wright will continue as safety supervisor.
* Karman Albright will continue to advise the yearbook.
* Leslie Cooprider will continue to advise student council.
* Science, Engineering and Elementary Kids (S.E.E.K.) will continue to be advised by Susan Anderson and Stephanie Wasnidge.
* Nichole Hughes will remain the math bowl sponsor.
* The School Improvement Committee will continue to be composed of Della Dale, D'Lee Sipes, Dara Pilant, Angela Colliver and Bart Wade. The committee has a single empty seat at present.
For the middle school extracurricular activities, trustees approved the following sponsors:
* Instructional leaders will remain Barbara Kirkman, Julie Shock, Gene Hall and Pam Puckett.
* Kirkman will also remain student council and yearbook sponsor.
* Kimberly Porter will continue as Library Club sponsor. She will also remain as academic coach and as the Academic Club sponsor.
* Aaron Lynn will continue as Science Club sponsor.
* Hobie Harrison will continue as ASAI Club sponsor.
* Stefanie Ball will continue as Junior Civitan Club sponsor.
* Christy Lehman will continue as Junior Miner Kadets sponsor.
* Harrison, Kirkman and Kelly Lannan will remain as the three members of the School Improvement Committee.
In Linton-Stockton High School, trustees approved the following extracurricular appointments:
* Cheryl Ash, Chantel Carpenter, Debbie Harding, Michael Puckett and Krystal Kirschner will remain as department heads.
* Puckett will continue as K-12 music chairperson and as the advisor to the marching and pep bands.
* Ford and Janis Bond will be succeeded as student council advisors by Holly Kirk and Krystal Kirschner.
* Senior and junior class sponsors will remain Mike Riggleman and Darren Clayton.
* Sophomore class sponsors will remain Rebecca Miller and Jessi Stanton.
* Freshman class sponsors will remain Janis Bond and Debbie Harding.
* Britney Lynn will continue as sponsor of the yearbook and the varsity Miner Kadets.
* Chandra Breneman will continue as Miner Flag Corps sponsor.
* Rita Cox will continue as Miner Rifle Corps sponsor.
* Brian Oliver will continue as industrial arts sponsor.
* Students Against Drunk Driving (S.A.D.D.) and Tri Hi Y has an opening for a sponsor.
* Debbie Harding will continue to sponsor Taste of FACS.
* Chantel Carpenter will continue to sponsor the lettermen and letterwomen.
* Bianca Tolbert will continue to sponsor the Spanish Club.
* Kim Haldeman will continue to sponsor the Business Club.
* Britney Lynn will continue to sponsor the German Club.
* Mike Riggleman will continue to sponsor the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
* Ford Bond will continue as sponsor of the History Club.
* Mike Riggleman and Krystal Kirschner will continue to sponsor the National Honor Society (NHS).
* Becky Miller will continue to sponsor Junior Civitan.
* Brian Oliver will continue to sponsor the Industrial Arts Club.
* Kim Hill will continue to sponsor the FFA.
* Wyatt Legrand, departing after this year, will be replaced as Art Club sponsor by Erin Henderson.
* Shauna Kendall will continue to sponsor the Pep Club.
* Samantha Writtenhouse and Amy Wadhwan will continue to serve as directors for the Fine Arts Performance Club.
* Writtenhouse will also continue to serve as vocal director.
* Michael Puckett will continue to serve as musical director.
* Wyatt LeGrand will be replaced by Erin Henderson as art director.
* Janis Bond and Chantel Carpenter will continue as Greene County and state academic coaches.
* Cheryl Ash, Chantel Carpenter, Mike Riggleman, Mike Hayden, Brad McKinney, Joan Warrick, Debbie Harding and Britney Lynn will all return as members of the school improvement committee.
* High school guidance counselor Mike Perigo was also named as a returning member, but his retirement was approved as a late addition to Monday evening's agenda by school trustees.
* There is presently an opening for Jets sponsor.
