Oliphant says thanks for help over years

To the Editor:

After 20 years of association with the Joe and Jan Edwards Labor Day Show, I would like to thank the many corporations and individuals who have assisted in the program.

Thanks to our sponsors who have indicated they will continue their sponsorship. To Farmers and Mechanics Federal Savings and Loan Association, Bloomfield Manufacturing Company, Homestead Realty, Bloomfield State Bank, Linton Family Pharmacy, Main Street Gift Shop in Linton, Bloomfield IGA, Ken's Barber and Style Shop, Haywood Body Shop, Haywood Printing, and the Greene County Daily World.

Thanks to the Bloomfield Town Council for allowing the use of the Bloomfield Town Park for 12 years, the Park Board, the town maintenance crew headed by Donnie Lawless, Gary Heshelman for providing the delicious barbecue, and to all the many folks who attended the shows over the years.

The 1997 show at the Hilltop remains the highest number of attendees on record when Uncle Bob Hardy made an appearance. We estimate that 800, more or less, enjoyed that program. We regret to say, Uncle Bob is not in good health and can no longer attend. Send him a card to: Uncle Bob Hardy, 1545 S. 14th Ave. Apt. #339, Yuma, Az., 85364. He would enjoy hearing from his old friends.

I'll be in the front row center at the Shawnee Theatre on Labor Day, Sept. 3, at 2 p.m. Hope to see you there!
