David L. Fields & Shirley Fields

David L. Fields, 81 of Villa Grove, Illinois passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at his home in Villa Grove.

He was born May 21, 1931 in Bedford, Indiana the son of Volney Max and Edith (Hays) Fields.

He married Shirley Ann Carter, on November 13, 1952. The couple would have been married 60 years, but she passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 at her home in Villa Grove, Illinois.

She was born June 26, 1935 in Owensburg, Indiana the daughter of Orville and Daphne (Wilson) Carter.

Surviving relatives include their two sons, Scott (Carla) Fields of Springfield, Ill., and Slade Fields of Gilbert, Arz. She has five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. David has three brothers, Dewey of Owensburg, Donald of Franklin and Denny of Shelbyville. Shirley has one brother, James Carter of Owensburg.

David was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

David was a veteran of the Korean War and serving in the U.S. Army and he worked road construction. Shirley worked for the Villa Grove School system.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. on Tuesday Nov. 13, until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Burial will follow at Dishman Cemetery.
