Generosity lets Wilkes attend Civitan event in Canada

To the Editor:

In January, I attended the Sno-Do event and Governor's update meeting for Junior Civitan International in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Sno-Do is a snowmobile ride fundraiser for the Civitan International Research Center for developmental disabilities. In order to attend this event, I had to raise $1,800. My goal was reached and exceeded thanks to many generous donations right here in Linton. I would like to give a special thank you to Laura Cross, the district chair for the Civitan North Central District for all of her help in organizing the trip. I would also like to say thank you to the following for your contributions: Midwest Satellite, Jim Riester and Karen Strueh, Linton Sporting Goods, Linton Civitan Club, Burton Chiropractic, Richard Brown Insurance, Southside Express, Mr. Nathan Moore, Mr. Jeff Sparks, Mr. Charlie Cox, Mayor John Wilkes, Jack and Nancy Beverstock, Tucker and Criss Figg.

Nationwide, from donations like yours, this event raised over $52,000 for the Civitan International Research Center. I can't express enough gratitude to all who contributed, and made this trip a very memorable experience.

Trent Wilkes
