Lakers win two games
The Shakamak Lakers improved to 7-1 win a pair of road wins over non-conference foes Friday and Saturday.
The Lakers outlasted host Northview 3-2 on Friday night at Brazil in a game that was rained delayed 24 hours.
Patrick Green went the distance on the hill allowing two runs and six hits with just one walk (intentional). Both Northview runs came in the home half of the first to negate an opening-inning marker by the Lakers..
From there the Shakamak defense took over until the bats finally produced a go-ahead two-run effort in the sixth.
"Patrick was on his game and pitched really well," SHS assistant coach Steven McNabb said. "He pitched to contact and we had a solid defensive effort behind him, he was the story of the game."
Of the eight hits mustered by the Lakers, only Brett Yeryar doubled.
In Saturday's trip to Spencer, Shakamak survived a five-run first and three-run seventh from the host Patriots as they outlasted Owen Valley 12-8.
Brodie Crowe and Jake Walters combined to scatter nine OVHS hits while the Shakamak bats did plenty of damage.
Crowe finished his stint on the mound with seven strikeouts and three walks allowing five runs while Walters fanned one and walked one allowing three hits and three runs.
Green slapped a three run homer and Chrisitian Burris wrapped a two-run shot while Braxton and Brett Yeryar (2) both doubled.
Crowe also drove home two runs with a single in four trips to the dish while Dylan Collins collected a pair of RBIs in two official atbats and Brett Yeryar was 2 for 2 with three walks and three runs scored.
"Brodie threw the ball pretty well after getting off to a shaky start," McNabb said. "We hit up and down the lineup, it was good to see everybody get into the offense."
