Miner football adds Ritter to schedule

Linton-Stockton High School announces the addition of Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter to the 2017 football schedule.

For the second year in a row the Miners will face the defending Class 2A state champion.

Ritter defeated Eastbrook in the 2016 2A championship game 28-6.

The schools have signed a two-year scheduling contract. In 2017 Linton-Stockton will host Ritter in Week 5 at Roy Williams Field. In 2018 the Miners will travel to face the Ritter Raiders at Marian University's St. Vincent Field in Indianapolis.

Ritter replaces Springs Valley on the schedule.

There is history between these two football programs. The Linton Miners and the Ritter Raiders met in the 2004 and 2008 Class A semistates. Ritter won both games, winning 21-20 in overtime in 2004 and 30-26 in the 2008 semistate.
