Dorothy H. ‘Duck’ Sparks, 80, of Sullivan, Indiana, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 at her residence.

She was born in Sullivan on June 22, 1937 to Fredy and Anna H. (Ridge) Shepler.

Duck was a member of the Merom United Methodist Church. She was the Deputy Auditor for Hendricks County one term with 15 years of service before she retired in 1993.

She enjoyed reading, shopping with Ester and playing cards with her neighbors.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey (Sharon) Sparks of Linton, Jerry Joseph (Connie) Sparks of Danville, Ind.; a daughter, Jenifer (Marvin, Sr.) Wickware of Terre Haute; four grandchildren, Ryan (Nicole) Oppy, Sam Sparks, Marvin Jr. (Beth) Wickware and Carmen Wickware; four great-grandchildren, Nathanial and Gabriel Wickware, Lydia and Margaret Oppy; her fur baby Will; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; five brothers, Fredy Jr., Paul, Lester, John, Jim Shepler; and three sisters, Freida Hayhurst, Ann Cox and infant Katherine Shepler.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2 at Breckenridge Assisted Living Activity Room in Sullivan. Dorothy will be laid to rest in Merom Cemetery in Merom, Ind. at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sullivan Co. Humane Shelter. Envelopes will be available at the memorial service.
