UPDATE: Linton man sustains fatal injuries after midnight accident

Around 12 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, officials responded to the scene of an accident on State Road 59 between Linton and Jasonville. According to deputies from the Greene County Sheriff's Department, the individual was driving his motorcycle southbound on 59 when he collided with a cow.

A Linton man suffered fatal injuries after his motorcycle struck a cow on State Road 59 just after midnight this morning.

Richard Cash, 55, died from the injuries he sustained in the accident just after midnight.

Around 12 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, officials responded to the scene of an accident on State Road 59, south of County Road 400 North. According to deputies from the Greene County Sheriff's Department, the individual was driving his 1986 Honda VF700 motorcycle southbound on 59 when he collided with a cow.

Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Alan Jackson said the victim was transported to Greene County General Hospital by ambulance to be airlifted.

"Officers arrived on scene, there was no pulse and he was not breathing. When the EMS hooked him up, it did show that he had a pulse, but he was still unresponsive," said Jackson.

According to a press release from GCSD Deputy Zach Goad, Cash was believed to be ejected from the motorcycle, causing the fatal injuries.

Jasonville Police Department, Linton Police Department, Greene County EMS, Greene County Sheriff's Department and Wright Township Volunteer Fire Department responded.
