UPDATE Linton power restored

Sunday, October 28, 2018

Just a little over two hours after the entire city was without power, the City of Linton Utilities Department has restored electricity.

As of 6:45 p.m., Brent Murray, with Linton Utilities, said everyone should have their power back on.

Murray said around 4:30 p.m. a tree fell across the line behind the high school.

"When that happens, Duke has to kill the power to the fifth street substation ... That knocked the whole town out. (The station by) Fast Freddies is our main feed," Murray explained.

Murray noted the slowed down wind helped get the power back on, but crews will have more work to do tomorrow to finish fixing the station.

  • What is "a while" in hours & minutes? I don't have "a while" on the dial of my Mickey Mouse watch.
