Turning Point Education Center partners with Eagle Railcar

Turning Point Education Center (TPEC) and Eagle Railcar Services in Washington have announced a new partnership created to provide students with employment opportunities.

Eagle Railcar Services are needing welders, blasters, mechanics, laborers, painters, electricians and maintenance workers.

TPEC is a division of Open Arms Christian Ministries, located near Switz City and in Lyons. TPEC offers state high school equivalency diplomas and certifications in welding, administrative assistant with Microsoft certification, CCMA medical assistant, CNC operator, CDL, electronics fundamentals and teaching assistant with Para Pro assessment.

New employees start at around $15 per hour and can make up to $18 an hour after 90 days, according to Michelle Ellis, who serves as Open Arms' Adult Education Director.

"The partnership guarantees them an interview," Ellis added.

Eagle has five full-service railcar repair and maintenance facilities, which are located in Indiana, Ohio and Texas.
