Six county girls make IBCA Academic All-State team
The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association recently named six Greene County girls to its Academic All-State team.
Addi Graves of White River Valley and Malea Toon of Bloomfield made the first team. Both have tallied more than 1,000 points in their careers. Toon scoring 1,386 and Graves putting 1,130 points on the scoreboard.
Four girls -- Lexi Anderson, Hannah Frady, and Ashtynn Powell of Linton and Nicole Kilzer of Bloomfield -- qualified for the honorable mention team.
Graves, a senior, also holds the WRV records for most steals in a career, 373, and a season, 131. This season she averaged 14.8 points, 4.5 steals, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.
Toon led Bloomfield to three sectional titles in her first three years as a Lady Cardinal, and an ankle injury prevented her from doing the same this year. The senior averaged 14.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.1 blocks, and 1.7 steals per game.
Anderson was one of those players every team needs -- a reliable substitute. She shot 36 percent from the field and averaged 2.3 boards per game. She also swatted down 10 shots.
Frady drilled 35 treys for the Lady Miners as she was a deadly threat from outside. She averaged 7.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
Kilzer was a consummate role-player for the Lady Cards. She averaged 4.0 rebounds, 2.4 points, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game and usually guarded one of the toughest players on the other team.
Powell proved to be another reliable sub for the Lady Miners. She averaged 2.8 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. She swiped the ball 18 times.
