FREE ACCESS: Portion of State Road 59 to be closed starting June 3

Thursday, May 30, 2019

The Indiana Department of Transportation announced a road closure for State Road 59 near Midland for a drainage structure replacement.

Beginning on or around Monday, June 3, contractors will close S.R. 59 from the intersection of S.R. 54 to the intersection of S.R. 48 as they work to replace a small drainage structure located about three miles north of the west junction of S.R. 54/59. This requires a complete excavation, including pavement cuts across the width of the roadway.

Depending upon weather conditions, the project is scheduled to last until mid-to-late June. Local traffic will have access up to the point of closure, however through traffic should use the official detour of S.R. 54, S.R. 67, S.R. 157 and S.R. 48.

INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews.

  • Wow so let me break this down.... SR 59 closed... CR 1000 (aka lonetree) from 54 to 200N one way traffic only... (North bound) So I am just curious has anyone ever heard of cooridinating projects? A person who works in LINTON and live in Jasonville what are the suggested routes!? Just as a typical motorist... 48 to 67/231? I guess 600W is a nice alternative to 1000 but still the mileage!!!
