The City of Linton will hold their community-wide yard sale. Sales will begin early, start time is up to individual sellers. To list your sale for free, visit the group Facebook page Linton City-Wide Yard Sale.

The Switz City Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring the annual Community Yard Sale in Switz City beginning at 7 a.m. If you would like to have your name/location added to the map (it’s free) please call the Switz City Town Hall at 812-659-4466 before June 7. The Fire Dept. will be open and, at about 10 a.m., they will fire up the grill, no pun intended, for lunch. They will be grilling hamburgers, cheeseburgers and hot dogs. The Fire Dept. will have cold drinks and will have restrooms open to the public.

Sandborn is having its community-wide yard sales starting at 8 a.m.

The 53rd annual Rose Reunion will be held at the Girl Scout Cabin in Humphreys Park in Linton. All descendants of Obediah and Dora (Sanders) Rose are invited. Lunch begins at 12:30 p.m. Arrival and sign-in is 11:30 to noon. Bring your own table service and a covered dish if you are able. Drinks and ice will be provided. We will have an auction, so bring a wrapped gift if you can. Bring photos that you would like on future postcards.

Greene County Girl Scouts will host a morning at the movies at the Linton Cinemas at 10 a.m. The movie that will be playing is “The Secret Life of Pets 2”. Doors will open at 9 a.m. and movie will begin at 10 a.m. Tickets are $3 and snack packs are $3.50. Girls that are going into kindergarten to twelfth grade are invited to come and learn more about joining Girl Scouts with their guardians. All registered Girl Scouts are encouraged to invite a girl that is interested in Girl Scouts; the girls can show her the fun she could have if she joins. If a registered Girl Scout brings a girl that registers at the movie she will receive an add-a-girl patch. All movie goers are being asked to bring a pet toy/food/treat to the movies that will be donated to the Greene County Humane Society.

Retirement party for Duane Collenbaugh at the Linton FOP from 3-5 p.m. He recently retired as Assistant Police Chief at the Linton Police Department. All friends and family are invited. No invitations will be sent. All area law enforcement, fire department, medical emergency, court house personnel, child services and corrections officers are invited also.

Greene County General Hospital is hosting a Safe Sitter Class in the conference room from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The class prepares grades 6-8 to be safe when they are home alone, watching younger siblings or babysitting. The Jasonville American Legion will be hosting a Memorial Bike Ride in honor of the Members and Veterans we have lost. Cost to ride is $25 or $30 with a second rider. Registration begins at 10 a.m, blessing of the bikes at 10:45 and kick-stands up at 11. The ride will start at The Jasonville American Legion Post 172 at 231 W Main St. Jasonville. Food will be provided upon returning to the post after the ride. Prize giveaways and raffles will also take place throughout the day. ALL riders and passengers will be asked to sign a waiver prior to the start of the ride. Come on out and ride in remembrance.

“Gardens to Remember” will be the theme for the Greene County Master Gardener’s Garden Walk from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (rain or shine). There are six homes on the tour with additional stops at Carnegie Heritage and Arts Center, where they will be hosting a garden art show, and Glory Hill Farm, an organic vegetable garden operation. Each location is unique and reflects the interest of the owners, an experience you won’t forget. Tickets are $10 for adults and children under 12 are free. Health Talks by Dr. James B. Gerni. First in a four-part series to be held on Saturdays, starting June 1 at 10:30 a.m.- noon at the Bloomfield Public Library. Full Life Development, a nonprofit serving disadvantaged communities in Northern Thailand, is taking orders for flowering potted plants that will be ready in May. Each pot is $18. Little Friends Preschool, located at Linton First Christian Church at 9878 W. SR 54 in Linton, is accepting enrollment for Fall 2019. Openings are available for three and four-year-olds on Tuesdays and Thursdays for morning class and afternoon class and for pre-kindergartners in the afternoon class on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Morning classes are held from 8:30 to 11 a.m., and afternoon classes are held from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. In addition, Little Friends Preschool will hold a new student informational open house on Thursday, April 11 from 5-6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to visit and find out more about the program. The Friends of Goose Pond and the Indiana Wildlife Artists collaborated for an exhibit of wildlife paintings and photographs for the 2019 Marsh Madness Sandhill Crane Festival. This exhibit will continue to be shown through March 30, 2019 at the Carnegie Heritage and Arts Center in Linton. Carnegie hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday -Saturday and the Carnegie is located at 110 E. Vincennes Street in Linton.

The Bloomfield Public Library will host the “Read Into Spring” Adult Reading Program from Feb. 4-March 30. Receive one prize each week for the slips you turn in. Weekly drawings for gift certificates. All slips will be entered into the grand prize drawing. 
The Worthington American Legion Ladies Auxiliary will meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Post 106 in Worthington.

The Bloomfield First Baptist Church Community Food Pantry is located at 500 Lincoln Drive in Bloomfield. The pantry serves individuals and families in the following zip codes: 47424 Bloomfield, 47439 Koleen, 47449 Newberry, 47453 Owensburg/Desden, 47457 Scotland and 47522 Crane. The hours of operation are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning from 9-11 a.m. and Tuesday evening from 4:30-6 p.m. Eligibility is determined by monthly/yearly income and proof of residence. All individuals or family may visit once a month and proof of residence is required each visit.

The Friends of the Bloomfield Library Book Shop is in the Library Annex on the square across from the Court House in Bloomfield. The Book Shop is open Tuesdays 10-1, Wednesdays 10-1, Thursdays 1-4 and first Saturdays 1-4. The Friends of the Bloomfield Library Book Shop has a great selection of gently used, nearly new donated books, DVDs, CDs. All proceeds are used to support Library projects. The Linton Public Library will begin their Adult/Teen Winter Reading Challenge on Jan. 14. The event will last through the last day of February. Teens who read two books will get either a 2-liter soda, a large can of Pringles or a box of movie candy and can enter for a chance to win a teen’s night out to Taco Bell and the Linton Movie Theater. Teens may enter up to four times. Adults will read for chances to win one of several different gift baskets.

Center Township Trustee meeting will be the second Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Center Township Fire Department.

Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD) support group meets on the second Tuesday each month at 6 p.m. at Redemption Christian Church in Loogootee. This group is for caregivers of those affected by FTD. The group will share the most accurate and current information about FTD and provide a space to share resources and provide peer support for care partners. The first meeting is Tuesday, January 8.

The Coal City American Legion presents a Gun and Knife Show the second Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Coal City Fire Department. Entry fee is $2.

Beginning August 8 and continuing every Wednesday at 9 a.m, Autumn Trace Assisted Living, located in Linton, will host Faithful Fitness 3:21, an exercise class for those with limited mobility. Chairs will be provided and classes are open to all ages. The public is welcome to attend. Donations will be accepted, but are not required nor expected.

Mom Moments, hosted by Pregnancy Choices, will meet the first Monday of each month from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church in Linton. New mom and pregnancy support group will include open question and answers, discussion, devotion and snacks.

Free Faithful Fitness classes at Coal City Community Bible Church Monday evenings at 6. We will be doing aerobic exercises to contemporary Christian music. Jasonville Senior Citizen Center will serve breakfast on the first Friday of every month from 7-9:30 a.m. The Center is located one block off Main street in downtown Jasonville and has a sign. Menu includes a full order of biscuits and gravy for $3.50 (half order $2); orange juice, biscuit, sausage patty, scrambled eggs and hash browns each for 75 cents; and free coffee. Eat in or carry out. This meal is open to the public and hosted by a non-profit organization.

Every second and fourth Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. all people who knit are welcome to join the Bloomfield Public Library in the Reading Room. Patrons may bring their own projects to work on or get started with needles and yarn that the library can provide for their first work.

The Worthington Senior Citizens Center holds a breakfast on the second Thursday of every month from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. On the last Wednesday of every month, there is a pitch-in lunch. Every Tuesday evening at 6:30 there is a Euchre Tournament at a cost of $3. Bid Euchre is played Monday through Saturday at 9 a.m. and pinochle on Thursday and Friday at 1 p.m.

The Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will meet in the conference room at the USDA Building in Bloomfield on the first Tuesday of each month. Nov. through March, the meeting will begin at 7 a.m. April to Oct. the meeting will begin at 6 a.m.

Lebanon Baptist Food Pantry will only be open on the fourth Thursday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The Pleasantville United Methodist Church food pantry is now open on the fourth Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. until noon.

The Bloomfield Public Library is establishing a bulletin board to be a central spot to look for local job listings and they hope to include any job openings that are within walking distance of Bloomfield town. If area businesses will notify the library when they have an opening, a flier will be created for them and posted on the bulletin board. The Scotland Historical Society has Greene County themed afghans to sell. The afghan features popular Greene County landmarks and consist of a list of all Greene County cities and towns lining the afghan. The multi-colored afghans sell for $45 each and may be purchased at Main Street Gifts in Linton or by calling Brenda Massette at 384-5118.

Making A Difference, a small group of Linton First Christian Church will sponsor Second Saturday Soup each month, which will include free lunch for anyone from 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. in the East Shelter House at Humphreys Park in Linton. Look for signs. Homemade lunch menu will vary.

The town of Switz City will conduct its monthly meetings on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Switz City Town Hall. If the Monday falls on a holiday, the meeting will be conducted the following Tuesday. The town hall is located at 220 Charlotte Avenue in Switz City.

The Bloomfield-Eastern Greene Public Library will host Preschool Storytime on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. for ages 4-6 yrs. Come and listen to a children’s story read by Mrs. Linda and enjoy a craft.
