Women's-only substance abuse recovery center being launched in Sullivan

Monday, June 24, 2019

Ruth House, is a recently-formed non-profit organization designed to be a women’s-only substance abuse recovery center that will service the Wabash Valley. The facility is located at 128 South Crowder Street in Sullivan, Indiana.

Ruth House will open its doors on Monday, July 15, 2019. It offers long-term, 9-months to 2-years, of structured living and educational opportunities that include Christ-centered 12-step programming, recovery skills, life skills, and bible studies. Assessment tools, evidenced-based treatment, substance abuse monitoring, clinical case management and recovery support programs are provided to help up to ten women at any given time to be successful. Working agreements are initially being developed with medical and legal affiliates in Sullivan, Greene and Vigo Counties. Nationally-recognized certification through the Indiana Association of Recovery Residences will be pursued once the facility is open.

The mission is to give women who are mature and ready for recovery the skills and tools they need to love themselves, repair their relationships and to empower them and their families to lead healthy, successful, productive and fulfilling lives.

The community will benefit by the reduced number who would otherwise stay on the cycle of repeated incarceration in jail or prison, and local employers will have candidates whom they know will meet their drug test requirements.

An “unveiling” event that is open to the public is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, at the Sullivan Civic Center, during which a presentation about the facility will be shown and an opportunity to preview the facility will be made available.
