Pipe replacement scheduled for SR 159 near Pleasantville

Thursday, August 8, 2019

GREENE COUNTY – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a drainage pipe replacement operation on State Road 159 near Pleasantville.

Beginning on or around Monday, Aug. 12, INDOT maintenance crews will close S.R. 159 near the intersection of County Road 750 South for a drainage pipe replacement project. This operation requires a full-width pavement cut to excavate the current pipe. Once the new pipe is in place, crews will then fill the hole with gravel which will be compacted under traffic conditions. Pavement will be replaced later once fill material is sufficiently stabilized.

Work is expected to last for about four days depending upon weather conditions. Inclement weather could affect the start date. During the closure, local traffic will have access up to the point of closure, all other traffic should use the detour following S.R. 59 and S.R. 54. Work will not begin until after the morning rush and traffic is expected to be able to pass in the afternoon.

INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews.
