LYONS – There is still time to sign up for the 18th Annual Open Arms Christian Ministries Golf Scramble. This year’s event will be Saturday, Sept. 7 at Stone Crest Golf Community, near Bedford.

Stone Crest, built in 1990, is situated on 540 acres with three different and unique golf courses that can be paired for a challenging 18-hole layout.

Proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit the soon-to-open new Hebron Home for Boys at Lyons. The facility, the former Lyons Health and Living Center, is in the process of being remodeled to accommodate boys aged 10 to 14. More than 2,500 volunteer hours have already been donated to the project, which is expected to begin accepting residents in the late fall or early winter.

This year’s corporate sponsors include: Metal Technologies, Inc., of Bloomfield; Powers Orthodontics and Dr. Scott Powers DDS, of Lyons; Bloomfield American Legion Post No. 196, Risa Dyer Real Estate, of Worthington; Mutual Bank of Bloomfield, Linton and Jasonville; Wabash Valley Correctional Facility of Carlisle, the Original Company Radio Group; Haywood Printing, of Bloomfield; and Stoll & Graber CPAs, of Washington.

The format for the event is a four-person best ball scramble.

There is still time to sign up.

There will be special prizes for the longest drive, longest putt, closest to the pin, putting contest and a ‘Beat the Pro’ contest.

Pre-registration fees made prior to August 31 will be $300 per team. Regular registration from Sept. 1-7 will be $330 for each team. A discounted fee of $260 per team will be available for multi-team registrations from the same organization.

The fee includes breakfast, driving range, green fees, cart fees and lunch.

Each team member will be entered into a drawing for many prizes like golf gear, gift certificates, sports memorabilia, free rounds of golf at area courses and much more. This includes a golfer’s dream package at French Lick, which includes hotel accommodations and four rounds of golf at the renowned Donald Ross Course.

This year, a live auction will be featured offering many very nice prizes.
