The organizers of Linton's Spookfest celebration, which includes a Halloween parade, tenderloin fundraiser at the fire station and costume contest, have announced plans have changed this year due to forecasted weather conditions heavy on the prediction of rain.

Saturday morning, event spokesperson Jessica Taylor confirmed the decision has been made to cancel the Spookfest parade and postpone the costume contest until Wednesday, Oct. 30.

The National Weather Service has forecast thunderstorms with heavy rainfall resulting in one or two inches of rain for Saturday evening, with chance of precipitation at 100 percent. Also predicted are wind conditions east northeast at 13 to 17 miles per hour with wind gusts up to 34 miles per hour.

"We will hold the Spookfest costume contest on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Saron Church in Linton," Taylor said. "Registration for the contest will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the contest will begin at 6 p.m."

The traditional tenderloin dinner, a fundraiser to benefit the Linton-Stockton High School Band, will carry on as planned from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Linton Fire Station.
