Farewell Gary Christy-’Our barber’

We will never forget the top-secret burr haircuts you gave L & M’s varsity basketball team in 1987, the half-foot of hair on your floor or the silence in the Switz City gym that night, when we ran out on the floor.

We won’t forget you cutting Jake’s hair when he was six months old, without his mother’s consent, knowing I would be in big trouble when we got home.

We will be sure to send word if Sam is getting his hair cut by a beautician, or if Jake has to confess we stopped at Ken’s in Bloomfield for a haircut.

We’re going to miss you showing us all of your guns.

We’re going to miss looking at the Pancho Villa portrait on your wall from Juarez, Mexico.

Most of all, we will miss coming to get our hair cut by you, Gary. You made us laugh and smile as we told you all of our latest stories.

I reckon we will let our hair grow long now.

Gary, you were our barber and our friend, until the end.

Farewell from your ol’ buddies,

Kyle Antibus
