FREE ACCESS: Greene County prepares for weather with Travel Advisory

Greene County Commissioner Nathan Abrams has issued a Travel Advisory in anticipation of this afternoon's expected winter weather.

According to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, "A Travel Advisory is the lowest level of local travel advisory, means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or avoid those areas."

On Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory, which is in effect from 4 p.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Thursday.

Mixed precipitation is expected. Total snow accumulations of up to two inches over northwestern parts of central Indiana and ice accumulations of around two-tenths of an inch with the highest amounts along the I-70 corridor.

Mainly snow expected northwest of a Crawfordsville to Kokomo line. Mixed precipitation including freezing rain along and around 25 miles either side of I-70.

The NWS urges motorists to plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact both this evening's as well as Thursday morning's commute.
