FREE ACCESS: Linton Food Pantry ‘bursting at the seams’
Linton Food Pantry Board member Pat Kelly said the pantry hasn’t seen many visitors since the recent lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has confined most citizens to their homes except for essential trips out. Many businesses have temporarily closed and some social services have been suspended, but the food pantry is open.
“We are bursting at the seams with food,” Kelly said. “We have plenty and would like to urge residents to stop by.” He said in light of social distancing restrictions made necessary by the pandemic, the food pantry has come up with a streamlined way to service its patrons.
“People can just pull up and we will bring the paperwork to them,” he said. “They fill it out, hand it back and we will then bring their food out to them.”
The modified drive-through service at the food pantry, which is located at 4th and E Streets in Linton adjacent to St. Peter Catholic Church, is available on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
