Solid Waste District Meeting

Friday, June 26, 2020

In a solid waste management meeting held on Wednesday June 24, the board discussed the financial status of the solid waste district, reporting a current balance of $120,000. Regarding the financial report, it was stated that the balance is projected to be $85,000 at the end of the year, which will have to last until June 2021. It was speculated that this amount would not be sufficient to sustain current operations. The board also discussed assembling an advisory committee. This committee would consist of three members to represent public interest and meet as needed to make recommendations to the board. According to their website, the advisory committee must be representatives of the solid waste management industry operating in the district, representatives of the environmental community and must be knowledgeable about and interested in environmental issues while not employed by the solid waste management industry. The members of the advisory committee must also be residents of the district. Interested individuals meeting this criteria are encouraged to contact a board member or the Greene County Attorney’s Office.
