Greene County voters instructed on new procedures
Greene County Voter Registration fully intends to proceed with the 2020 General election, but some things will be slightly different. The following information outlines some guidelines for voting:
Precautions & General Guidance:
State guidelines on distancing, sanitizing, & facial protections are being followed, as well as:
There will be more machines at each Vote Center, so lines should move quicker.
Absentee ballots that are received will remain sealed and will be locked in cabinets until Election Day.
When mailing back absentee ballots, please don’t lick them. Wet it with a sponge or a washcloth.
Don’t give your completed ballot to someone who comes to your door saying they’re collecting them!
Hand sanitizer, disinfectant, masks and gloves will be available at all polling locations. Voting machines will be routinely wiped down with disinfectant.
Protective gloves and masks will be worn by poll workers, and it is encouraged that voters wear them also.
When signing the poll pad, voters need to use a stylus, instead of your finger. These will be provided.
Any further adjustments made by the State will be communicated to you promptly.
Miscellaneous:
There are several ways to vote: absentee, early voting at the Courthouse, travel board, early satellite locations, as well as vote centers on election day.
Some poll workers have expressed concern about working at the polls, so if anyone wants to work, there may be a spot for you.
If you voted Absentee in the Primary, you don’t automatically get an application sent to you for the November election. You’ll need to call the Voter Registration office and request one.
Per State guidelines, DO NOT put Absentee ballots in the property tax drop box outside the Courthouse.
There are various sources out there providing information about the upcoming election. While some are helpful, some are giving out erroneous information.
