Shakamak 46, Clay City 50

“We dug ourselves into a hole in the first quarter,” Shakamak coach Chase Rhoten said. “Once we were able to see some shots go in, it gave us a boost and we were able to fight our way back. We were only able to take a one point lead late in the third quarter and early in the fourth. Clay City hit some really big shots at key points of the game. I’ve always loved the effort our girls play with. It’s definitely a disappointing result, but we are eager to bounce back from it.”

Shakamak 33, West Vigo 30

The Lady Lakers scored their biggest win of the year with a 33-30 victory over Class 3A West Vigo. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Lakers who will next play at the North Central Classic.

“We were in major foul trouble the entire game. OV went on a 9-0 run to end the half and it was about that large of a deficit the rest of the way. We fought back late and made a little run but couldn’t take the lead,” Coach Greg Burton said.
