GC Commissioners oppose House Bill 1381

Friday, March 5, 2021

The Greene County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the commissioner’s room on the third floor of the courthouse. During the county attorney’s report, Marvin Abshire presented resolution 2021-04 as a response to House Bill 1381 which removes the home rule of local government regarding the siting and standardization of solar and wind power. The bill, if passed, would grant authority to the state. The proposed resolution would oppose HB 1381. Commissioner Rick Graves explained, “I didn’t think the bill affected Greene County so I didn’t think there was any reason to fool with it until, thankfully, Commissioner Michaels changed my mind. I think we should oppose it; I think he has the right idea that we should keep as much local control as possible.” The Commissioners approved a motion to oppose the bill.
