Donald M. Elliott, 95, of Linton, went to Heaven peacefully on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville. He was born on May 14,

1927 in Lyons to Laina and Sarah Marie (Owen) Elliott. Don married the love of his life, Norma L. (Alsop) Elliott on February 13, 1951.

Don was a US Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the Linton First Christian Church, where he served as a Deacon and Elder for 50 years. Don was a farmer, postal carrier and then a company coal miner for Peabody Coal Co., where he retired in 1988 with 25 years of service. Fishing was his favorite pasttime, especially taking his grandchildren with him and he enjoyed singing in the church choir and Good News Singers.

Family left to cherish the memories of Don include his wife, Norma L. Elliott; two

daughters, Debbie L. (Kevin) Francis and Cathy L. (Bret) Hobbs, both of Linton; six

grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and sister-in-law,

Patti Elliott of Linton. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Janie B. Elliott; sister, Nila

Hall and brothers, Jimmie D. Elliott and David Elliott.

Funeral services to honor the life of Don will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 3,

2023 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Nick Moore officiating. Don will be laid to rest in Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Lyons following military graveside rites by the American Legion Post 22.

Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 2 and from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Linton First Christian Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
