GC Council approves additional appropriations
The Greene County Council held its monthly meeting April 24. Council members voted to approve various additional appropriations both to advertise and for final consideration from many Greene County agencies.
Amongst these agencies was the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff George Dallaire approached the council to ask for additional appropriations regarding insurance claims on damage done to a squad car during the March 31 tornado.
“The only thing I have a check for right now is for the radio equipment in that vehicle, and that totals $4,511.60,” said Dallaire.
The board voted unanimously to approve advertising the additional appropriation for the checks from the insurance company.
In other business:
• Greene County Council President Kelly Zimmerly declined the Greene County Commissioners appointment of her to the Community Correction Advisory Board and nominated Gregg Roudebush in her place.
• The council voted 4-3 to elect Brent Murray as Greene County Council Vice President. Three votes were cast in favor of Jerry Frye.
• The council voted unanimously to approve additional appropriations to advertise from the Health Department and to approve a job description for an EHS position for retail food inspections.
“The annual salary for this position is $46,464.60, which comes out to $2,554 per month,” said Shari Lewis with the Health Department.
• The council voted to approve and advertise an additional appropriation for the clerk’s office to hire a part-time employee to work in the office, while the clerk’s employees can organize confidential files located out of the office.
“The extra hire rate is $11 an hour and it will be between 12 and 20 hours a week,” said Greene County Clerk Stuart Dowden.
• The council voted unanimously to approve five additional appropriations for final consideration, including $60,000 to Judge Dena Martin for additional psychiatric exams for inmates; $56,000 to Greene County Surveyor Edward Strong for corner perpetuation; $233,711.93 to Director of the Alcohol and Drug program Nicole Noel for restricted and unrestricted amounts in the mental health department; $18,457 to Greene County Emergency Management Director Roger Axe for the mitigation grant; and $6,077 to Sheriff Dallaire for motor vehicle maintenance.
• The council voted unanimously to approve a local coordinating council-granted check of $6,000 to the Alcohol and Drug program for their drug screening process.
• The council voted unanimously to approve an additional appropriation of $600,000 to the Greene County Commissioners to give to the highway department for new dump trucks.
The next public meeting of the Greene County Council is Monday, June 26 at 4 p.m. in the Commissioner’s Room on the third floor of the Greene County Courthouse.
