Greene County Foundation awards grant funding to 20 area groups
Greene County Foundation Executive Director Suzanne Jackson and Program Manager Katie Stout welcomed representatives from 20 different Greene County entities and organizations to the Community Event Center Tuesday evening.
The event featured lively conversation and camaraderie, meat trays, fruit trays, cookies by Daves Deli and, most importantly to the organizations who applied, community support grant funding for a multitude of projects they have planned to better Greene County.
35 groups applied and 20 qualified, receiving a collective $126,220 as well as a yard sign declaring their organization as a Greene County Foundation 2023 grant recipient.
The following groups and organizations were recognized and awarded funding for the following projects:
Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library - $15,000 to repair the facade of the library in downtown Bloomfield
Eastern Greene Schools - $13,000 for playground renovation at the elementary school
Glenburn Home - $9,200 to upgrade four of their beds to new electric beds
The Greene County Cemetery Commission - $4,005 for equipment updates, fuel costs and new signs for some of the cemeteries
The Greene County Literacy Coalition - $2,700 for the construction of eight new Little Free Libraries across the county with charter signs to register them as official
Greene County Master Gardener Association - $3,477 for a new garden shed for the organization
GROW Jasonville, Inc. - $14,291 to assist in the beautification and renovation of a downtown Jasonville building
Healthy Hearts WRV (unable to attend) - $5,000 to purchase food for WRVs weekend food program
Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce - $1,770 to purchase a new, upgraded sound system and speakers for the Linton Freedom Festival and other events
Linton Farmers Market, Inc. - $5,000 for the Market Bucks program
Lyons Community Food Pantry - $5,000 to assist in the pantrys food expenses at Catholic Charities
Middle Way House, Inc. - $2,200 for rent at their Bloomfield location
MSD of Shakamak - $13,000 for Dreamland playground renovations
Open Arms Christian Ministries - $2,750 for therapeutic services for foster children
Pace Community Action Agency/Headstart - $2,800 for their Healthy Minds, Healthy Body program
Rebuilt Recovery and Discipleship - $6,687 to help cover participant fees
Scotland Historical Society, Inc. - $3,000 for interior repair of the Scotland Barbershop
Shawnee Theatre of Greene County, Inc. - $3,680 for dressing room and concession stand upgrade and repairs
Tulip Trestle Community Restoration, Inc. - $1,200 for restroom facility services
White River Valley School District - $5,960 for school security and safety at WRV Middle School
White River Valley School District - $6,500 to upgrade the music department sound system at WRV Elementary.
