Tuesday, January 30
Linton Public Library will host “Play-to-Learn Time” at 10:30 a.m. including fun, educational games and activities for little ones.
Thursday, February 1
Jennifer McCormick (D), former Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction and current candidate for Governor of Indiana, will appear at 5 p.m. at the Shawnee Theatre in Bloomfield for a town-hall style evening. McCormick will speak on her candidacy as well as take questions from the audience. Prior to this, beginning at 4 p.m., McCormick will conduct a “meet and greet” with local educators. Both events are free and open to the public.
Friday, February 2
Goose Pond Fish & Wildlife Area will host “Owl Prowl” at 5 p.m. at the Visitors Center. They’ll talk about what makes owls so special, what allows them to hunt at night and why they’re so important to Indiana ecosystems. Attendees will then head outside to get a look at some of the resident short-eared owls over the prairie and call to a woodland species or two. The February meeting of the Greene County Right to Life will be held at 7 p.m. at Switz City Baptist Church.
The Greene County Cemetery Commission will meet at 1 p.m. at the 4-H Fairgrounds.
Wednesday, February 7
The Carnegie Heritage and Arts Center of Linton will hold its annual meeting at 5 p.m. at the Carnegie. This meeting is open to the public.
Thursday, February 8
Abe Lincoln will be coming to the Bloomfield Library at 6 p.m.. This event geared for all ages will include a great time of fun, laughter and learning about his youth in Indiana and path to becoming President of the United States.
The regular monthly meeting of the Greene County Sheriff’s Merit Board will meet at 5 p.m. in the conference room at the Greene County Jail, located at 204 County Road 70 East at the east edge of Bloomfield.
Friday, February 9
Linton Public Library will host a Creative Crafternoon at 1 p.m.. Join in a fun craft as we will be painting wine glasses to look like flowers. At 2:30 p.m., the library will host Teen Cricut Program in which teens can learn to use the Cricut machine with a fun project.
Saturday, February 10
Elementary painting will be available at Linton Public Library from 12:30-1:30 p.m.. A fun painting craft for elementary-age kids will be available.
Tuesday, February 13
The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Bloomfield Chapter 0847 will meet at the Case Sevilla Restaurant in Bloomfield at 11:30 a.m.. The business meeting will follow the luncheon and all Federal employees, retirees and spouses are invited and encouraged to attend.
Linton Public Library will host “Little Movers”, a dance party for little ones, at 10:30 a.m..
The Greene County Veterans Council will meet at 7 p.m. at Autumn Trace Senior Community, located at 1150 County Road 1000 W in Linton.
Friday, February 16
Linton Public Library will offer “Bingo for Books” at 1 p.m.. Come play bingo and win books. Prizes will be geared towards more advanced readers.
Thursday, February 22
The Linton Gamma Tau chapter of Tri Kappa sorority will hold their annual bingo fundraiser at the Knights of Columbus Activity Hall located at 450 E St. NE in Linton. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and bingo begins at 6:30 p.m.. Raffle and cash prizes in a smoke-free environment. Must be over 18 to enter. 20 games for $10/additional games $5. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Advance tickets are available from any Tri Kappa member or call 812-847-9392 for more information.

A new Scrapbook Club program will be available at Linton Public Library at 2:30 p.m. in which teens can learn scrapbooking techniques while hanging out with friends. Bring your favorite photos.
Saturday, February 24
Shawnee Theatre will present the movie “Hoosiers” with a talk back following the movie from Screenwriter Angelo Pizzo and Director David Anspaugh at 6 p.m.. Tickets are $15 presale and $20 the day of. Tickets will be $10 each for a group of 10 or more. To purchase tickets, Shawnee Theatre box office hours will be Friday, Feb. 2 and 9 from 3-7 p.m. as well as Saturday, Feb. 3 and 10 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m..

The Executive Board of the Greene-Sullivan Special Education Cooperative will meet in executive session at 9 a.m., with the regular meeting to follow at 9:30 a.m., in the conference room at the Greene-Sullivan Special Education Cooperative located at 77 A St. N.E. in Linton.

Linton Public Library will host “Play-to-Learn Time” with fun, educational games and activities for little ones at 10:30 a.m..

“Homeschooler’s Art Class” will take place from 1-2 p.m. at Linton Public Library, providing a fun art lesson for grades K-6.
Friday, March 1
March is kindergarten enrollment month for the 2024-25 Linton-Stockton kindergarten classes. Children who will be five years old on or before August 1, 2024, are eligible to enroll. Enrollment information packets may be picked up in the elementary office beginning January 22, 2024. Please note: enrollment forms have already been given to Linton preschools for your child to bring home. Please call the school office at 812-847-6039 with any questions.
Saturday, March 16
C2C will host a Free Prom Shop from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.. Dresses, shoes, jewelry and undergarments will be available for free for anyone going to prom, for any reason. There will be no eligibility requirements. Refreshments will be available as well as a place to try on the dresses and a photo booth. For those wishing to donate formal dresses, shoes, jewelry, hair accessories or strapless bras, bring them to Second Time’s the Charm during open hours and let them know it is for the Free Prom Shop.

Applications are due for vendors wishing to participate in the 2024 Linton Farmers Market. Further instructions regarding payment will be provided after application review and acceptance. All vendors must be 100% handcrafted and comply with local safety ordinances and certification laws. The Fourth Annual Madi’s Day of Hope is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Linton’s Humphreys Park. This year’s event will help build the Madi’s Hope Foundation, with a major goal of providing gift baskets to sick children. The organization’s namesake, the late Madison Moore, was on the receiving end of similar gifts during her time at Riley Children’s Hospital and her family wants to give back in a similar way.

Linton Public Library will host “Storytime!” including delightful books, songs, rhymes and crafts for little ones at 10:30 a.m. on February 6 and February 20. Spanish/English class will be open to all ages and speaking abilities on Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m.. Yoga with Belinda Baysinger will be available on Fridays at 9 a.m. on a donation basis. Please bring your own towel or mat.
American Legion Auxiliary 479 in Lyons will host a breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the third Saturday of every month, including a full breakfast menu.
Team of Mercy Suicide Support Group meets the third Thursday of every month from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at Switz City Fire Department at 206 Charlotte Ave in Switz City. This is a closed meeting for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. We want individuals to feel safe, comfortable and know we take their grief very seriously. Lyons Town Council will hold their regular meetings at 5:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in the Lyons Community Building meeting room, 600 West Broad Street in Lyons.
Westgate Board meetings for 2023 will take place on the second Tuesday of the month at WestGate Academy at 1:30 p.m..
Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library will host chair yoga in the Annex on Wednesdays from 9:30-11 a.m..
Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library will host a writing circle from 1-2:30 p.m.. Bring what you would like to write about, rough or polished pieces or even just an idea.
Jasonville Public Library will host a story hour the first Saturday of each month at 10 a.m.. Stories are read, crafts are made and treats are enjoyed. All are welcome.
The Eastern branch of the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library will host story time at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday. All children are welcome.
Feed My Sheep Bible Bookstore at 74 1/2 S. Main St. in Linton will be hosting community prayer meetings each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.. Everyone is welcome. Please use the rear entrance where there is also parking available.
Apostolics of Greene County is offering a Christian Intervention Program for drug, alcohol or any addiction abuse. This is a 20-week ongoing program located at 310 E. Vincennes St. in Linton. Sessions are Sundays at 4:30 p.m. with the entrance on the west side of the building, going downstairs into the fellowship hall. An elevator is available at the north end of the west side entrance if needed.
The Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support group meets the first Monday of the month from 6-7 p.m. at Switz City Christian Church located at 286 Charlotte Ave in Switz City. For questions, call the Alz. Assoc. at 800-272-3900 or locally, call Dayna Firestone at 812-798-0325.

The Ladies Aid meets every third Wednesday at noon at the church. Come join the fellowship and fun. You need not be a member to join. The Community Men’s Group meets every second Saturday at 8 a.m. at the church. Breakfast is served. Everyone is invited. You do not have to be a member of the church.
The Greene County Literacy Coalition hosts twice-weekly meetings to foster language learning for native English and Spanish speakers. The group meets from 6-8 p.m. every Tuesday at the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library Annex and Wednesdays at the Linton Public Library. Apostolics of Greene County offers free lunch, good conversation and optional bible study at Grandma Bault’s Soup Kitchen located at Apostolic Church 310 E Vincennes Street in Linton every second and fourth Thursday of the month. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Word is given from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
Dugger American Legion will host bingo from 6-9 p.m. each Saturday evening.
Newberry Town Council meetings are the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at town hall. If it is a holiday, the meeting will be the next evening, Tuesday at 6 p.m. Newberry Town Hall, 430 Broad St. (St Rd 57) in Newberry.
