Spring season officially kicking off

As the calendar flips into April, the spring sports around Greene County are preparing to begin.

For baseball, Dugger, Eastern Greene, Shakamak and White River Valley start their seasons either on Friday, March 29 or Saturday, while Linton and Bloomfield begin their seasons early this week.

Dugger takes on Riverton Parke on Saturday, March 30 before their home opener on Monday, Apr. 1 against Cloverdale.

The Bulldogs will host Red Hill on Tuesday.

Eastern Greene start their season at the Loogootee Round Robin on Saturday, March 30.

The T-Birds will travel to take on Brown County on Tuesday, Apr. 3 before taking on Wood Memorial on Friday.

The T-Birds first home game is Saturday, Apr. 6 against Linton.

Shakamak will take on Jasper on Friday, March 29 before traveling to take on Bloomington North and Northview on Saturday with games beginning at 11 a.m..

The Lakers then travel to Terre Haute North on Monday, Apr. 1 before taking on North Daviess on Friday Apr. 5 before their home opener on Tuesday, Apr. 9.

The Wolverines travel to take on North Putnam on Saturday, March 30 before taking on Greencastle on Monday, Apr. 1.

The Wolverines’ first home game is against North Central on Wednesday, Apr. 3.

Linton starts their season against Mitchell on Monday, Apr. 1 before staying home to take on Bloomington North on Tuesday.

The Miners play four games in their first week of play.

The Cardinals start on the road against Owen Valley on Tuesday, Apr. 2 before their home opener against Mitchell on Tuesday.

The Cardinals end their week at North Knox and Shoals on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.

For softball, Eastern Greene has taken on three teams before April rolls around, as the team has played Springs Valley, Edgewood and North Daviess.

As of Thursday morning, the Lady T-Birds are 0-1 after falling 4-3 to Springs Valley.

Eastern Greene hosted Edgewood on Thursday, March 28 before hosting North Daviess on Friday.

The Lady T-Birds will take on Bloomington North on Monday, Apr. 1 before hosting Brown County on Tuesday.

The week for Eastern Greene concludes with a game at Shoals on Thursday before taking on Northeast Dubois on Saturday.

Dugger softball is 0-2, with their first home game on Monday, April 1 against Cloverdale.

Red Hill will take on the Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday, before Dugger hosts Hutsonville/Palestine on Friday.

Shakamak hosts Terre Haute North on Friday, March 29 before taking on Bloomington North on Saturday.

The Lady Lakers return home on Monday to take on Barr-Reeve before hosting Terre Haute South on Tuesday.

Friday the Lady Lakers will host Loogootee before taking on Bloomington South on Saturday.

Linton softball starts their season against Mitchell on Monday, Apr. 1.

The Lady Miners will travel to North Central on Tuesday before hosting Northview on Wednesday.

WRV softball hosts Cloverdale on Tuesday, Apr. 2 before taking on Sullivan on Wednesday.

For Bloomfield, their softball team hosts Loogootee on Tuesday, Apr. 2 before hosting Springs Valley on Tuesday.

The Lady Cardinals travel to Cloverdale on Wednesday before ending their week hosting North Daviess on Friday.

For track and field, Linton hosts North Knox on Monday, Apr. 1.

Eastern Greene track and field hosts Bloomfield on Tuesday, while WRV will host Shoals and Sullivan on the same day.

For girls tennis, Linton travels to take on Loogootee on Tuesday, Apr. 2 while the Lady Wolverines will host Sullivan the same evening.

Bloomfield tennis will host Edgewood on Tuesday as well.
