Nancy Catherine Hardesty

Nancy Catherine Hardesty, 91, of Linton passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024 in Jasonville with her loving daughter and son-in-law by her side.

She was born in Dugger on July 25, 1933 to Jefferson B. and Jennie (Chandler) House.

She married Joy Hardesty on July 13, 1949. They raised their family in Bucktown and then moved to Linton, after the children were grown. She was a beautiful person and a wonderful wife and mother that devoted her life to her family. She loved life and met challenges with grace, strength and faith. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She was a member of the Faith Community Church in Dugger.

Nancy is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Gary Swan; a son, Dorman Hardesty; sisters, Shirley Cullison and Jennie Darlene House; sister-in-law, Mary House; grandchildren, Tamra Walters, Cory (Tommy) Walters, Jana Rent and Summer Bonham; as well as several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joy Hardesty (d.1998), daughter, Rita Walters; parents; brothers Bill, Jeff, Jack, Bob and John House; sisters, Melba Cartwright and Rosemary House; and a companion, Kenny Pirtle. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Newkirk’s Funeral Home in Dugger. Burial will follow in Mt Moriah Cemetery in Bucktown.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Newkirk’s Funeral Home.
