Janice Sue Foos

Janice Sue Foos, 79, of Bloomington passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at IU Health Bloomington. Jan was born May 4, 1945 in Linton and was the daughter of the late Donald H. and Lola M. (Newsome) Clayton.

Jan was a graduate of Linton High School with the Class of 1963 and received her bachelors and masters degrees from Indiana University in education. Jan retired from Fairview Elementary School, where she taught second grade for many years. After retirement, Jan was a library volunteer. She enjoyed scrapbooking, reading and summers with the grandkids.

Jan married James “Jim” Foos in 1966 and they moved to Bloomington. Together, they enjoyed taking cruises to many places, playing cards with friends, attending many concerts and spending winters in Florida together. Jan loved watching her cowboy shows and IU basketball. She also enjoyed her Pi sisters, a group of teacher friends who enjoyed getting together for dinners.

Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and an infant daughter, Brandi, who was stillborn.

Jan is survived by her children, Chris (Candi) Foos and Cori (Matt) Sheridan; grandchildren, Bryce Foos, Reagin Foos, Braelyn Foos, Brayton Sheridan and Kailyn Sheridan; one great-grandson, Archer Foos; brother, Don (Marylin) Clayton; four nieces and two nephews.

Services for Jan will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at The Funeral Chapel.
