Relationship with your mother sets the tone for your life
As a kid I assumed that every child in America has a mom they have a good relationship with. Now that I’m older I know that is not the case.
In later years I learned not every mom out here is nurturing and caring. Form me it is hard to believe because my mom, Paula, was nurturing and caring. Her children came first before herself and it has been a blessing for me since birth.
I know others who have no relationship with their mother or a poor one. It impacted them in different ways but most of them are bad.
I have met men who despised their mothers and the results are not pretty. Those in that category that I have seen ended up craving attention because they did not get attention as a child. They have struggled to make friends and be stable socially.
Not everyone who does not have a positive relationship with their mom is like that. I do know that those who have a bad relationship with their father is far more common in America than those who have a poor relationship with their mother. The latter is far more difficult to come back from.
Even today, my mom sends me food to take home when I visit. When I started this job she gave me three weeks’ worth of meatloaf and mashed potatoes to keep in the freezer and thaw out when needed.
I get it, Mother’s Day is not about psychology. However, I hope we can understand the practical reasons behind the celebration of Mother’s Day.
Not having a good relationship with your mom is a scary scenario I don’t want.
