Is it really toxic though?
Don’t laugh, but I’m in a group on Facebook that’s called “Adulting 101”. Adults of all degrees of adulting ask for advice and help others out on everything from taxes to relationships to home buying.
Not long ago, someone asked people to share their toxic traits. People shared answers like turning on their brights when someone is coming at them and won’t turn theirs off, getting obscenely angry when someone is coming at them in an aisle in Goodwill, starting a fight even when they know they are wrong, being a Leo, needing to get an iced coffee every time they leave the house and more.
It got me thinking what mine would be. The first that came to mind is if I am going at a decent speed, not speeding per se but not lollygagging, and someone is right up on my tail, I’ll go exactly the speed limit.
Obviously I don’t do this in unsafe situations, but if it’s 35 and I’m going anywhere from 37-40 and I can’t even see the hood of the person behind me, 35 sounds perfect. Slow your roll, pal.
I have also been known to fight the urge of feeling like I need to get a drink from some fast food restaurant when I go out. Something about running errands just makes me parched.
And don’t even get me started on impulsivity. I have an awful habit of finding something I want to do or buy and then being convinced that is what I need to do or buy ASAP. I’m talking like, immediate, has to be done soon because I am utterly sure it is a great idea and there’s nothing better.
Thankfully, rational thinking and sanity come into play more often than not but I have definitely gone with it a time or five.
But are these really toxic traits, or are they more just little quirks that we all have? Bits of our personalities manifesting themselves in all sorts of ways.
Now I’m curious, what are your “toxic traits”, Greene County? Sound off!
