On the bright side
We all know that life gets tough, right? Some days drag by, sometimes even weeks. Some little task or a whole day are the windshield and you are the bug, splattered to smithereens between the wind and glass.
These days are unavoidable, though try as we might to avoid them and hate them as we do.
No one likes the rough days, the days that infuriate you to a point even banging your head against a wall would be preferable. Or the uncomfortable ones, where you do something or something happens that you just can’t get around mentally. That moment replays over and over and over, driving you nuts with embarrassment long after the event even happened.
For me, these are just the worst. I like positivity, happiness. Negativity makes me uncomfortable like nobody’s business. I’m well aware I need to just buck up sometimes, grow up and face it because life is definitely not all sunshine and daisies. I know this, but that doesn’t make the bad days any less bad.
And we all have our own ways of coping with it, of pushing through and not drowning under the weight of all that bad. For me, it’s the next good thing. Whatever is coming up on my schedule, could be a fun event or spending time with a friend, that’s what I cling to.
This is how I make it through. I know I can’t get to that next good thing if I don’t get through whatever it is that sucks right now. It just doesn’t work that way. And there ain’t nothing I can do but keep on keeping on.
So, for now, I’m keeping on and keeping my eye on the calendar.
