ARE YOU PROVIDING CAREGIVING SUPPORT FOR A LOVED ONE LIVING WITH DEMENTA?
Consider joining this online care partner support group for people caring for someone living with dementia. Sessions include video clips featuring Teepa Snow, interactive activities, discussion and post-session resources.
Weekly topics include understanding and accepting dementia, common brain changes and supportive techniques, sensory changes – increasing awareness and understanding impact, person-centered problem solving and techniques to reduce stress.
This support group will be held every Thursday evening from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. EST starting April 25 and running through May 23. Sessions will be facilitated using Zoom; you must use a device with a camera and a microphone; sessions will not be recorded to maintain confidentiality. ‘LIVING YOUR BEST LIFE’ PROGRAM TO BEGIN IN VINCENNES IN APRIL
Generations Area 13 Agency on Aging, partnering with the University of Southern Indiana, is offering the six-week program, “Living Your Best Life” every Monday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. EST starting April 15 and running every Monday through May 20. The class will be held at Jamestown Square Apartments, 360 Felt King Rd in Vincennes. This self-management program is for individuals with chronic health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, respiratory disease, arthritis, etc. There is no fee to participate and all materials and resources are provided. This program is open to the public, but registration is required as seating is limited. For more information, or to register, please contact Cathy Jones at 812-888-5159. This project is supported by the University of Southern Indiana’s Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). *If you or a group are interested in a Living Your Best Life class in Greene County, please contact Cathy Jones at 812-888-5159; there is a minimum number of participants that the class has to have, so there has to be enough interest to be sure that the class will have the number of participants required.
BUILD-A-BASKET BY-THE-MONTH: APRIL
Generations is collecting different items each month that can be used at the end of the year to supplement the Build-A-Basket program. Each month, we will be collecting these items and storing them away for the holiday season to create additional baskets, as needed. April Collection Items: bath and shower products. If you would like to donate bath and shower items, please contact Alma Kramer at 812-888-4527 or by email at akramer@vinu.edu to schedule your pick up. Items may be dropped off at the Generations office at 1019 N. 4th St., Vincennes. Thank you for your help in supporting our Build-A-Basket program.

Our magazine is geared toward adults in pre-retirement and retirement years and promotes active aging and preventive health. It is published three times a year and is free to subscribers.
