Bloomfield Rotary Club awards scholarships to top students
May 4, 2012
More than $12,000 in scholarship money was distributed to Bloomfield Junior-Senior High School's top academic finishers during Thursday's Rotary Club Honors Night Dinner.
The event, which Rotary President and Greene Circuit Court Judge Erik "Chip" Allen called "probably our marquee event for the year" recognized about 50 students for their academic achievements.
Funds for the scholarships come from an array of sources, including Rotarian fundraisers such as March's chili supper and good-natured fines imposed upon members, as well as private endowments from an array of past and present local luminaries.
The Margaret "Peg" Harrah Memorial Scholarship (above left photo) was presented to Joseph Cooper (far right) and Avery Frederick (second from right), and the Bloomfield Manufacturing Scholarships were awarded to Cody Bissey (far left), Curtis Hasler (second from left), and Rachel Helms (third from right).
