Scenes from the Greene County Band Festival

240 band students from across Greene County gathered for a day to rehearse and then perform as a whole Thursday, March 20. The students were conducted by each band director from Greene County schools as well as guest conductor Ishbah Cox, the assistant professor of bands at Purdue University. Cox serves as a festival adjudicator, a clinician and a conductor on top of his work at Purdue.

Linton freshman Michael Thompson swings a whirligig during a performance of a percussion ensemble at the Greene County Band Festival. The ensemble performed "After Basho," a percussion piece written by Bloomfield band director Jen Bollero. The piece was written to resemble the japanese haiku with time signatures mimicking the five and seven syllable lines of the poems.
