Linton Mayor John Wilkes has proclaimed Friday and Saturday, May 2-3 as Poppy Days in Linton. The mayor's official proclamation, signed Monday afternoon in Linton City Hall, states the poppy has been a memorial flower for American war dead since the years following World War I, and that veterans returning to their homes after the war remembered the wild poppies which lined the devastated battlefields of France and Flanders Field. Crash on State Road 45 claims life of motorcycle rider

A fatal crash on State Road 45 on Wednesday claimed the life of Robert V. Cramer, 71, a Bloomington man who was operating a 1986 Honda Goldwing motorcycle.
