National Weather Service issues Winter Weather Advisory for Greene, several counties (Local News ~ 02/24/16)
The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Greene County and 12 other west-central and central Indiana counties from 4 p.m. today through 1 p.m. on Thursday. The NWS says up to 5 inches of snow is expected in some areas, with the heavier amounts in the northwestern portion of the advisory area. The advisory includes Boone, Clay, Greene, Hamilton, Hendricks, Knox, Marion, Morgan, Owen, Putnam, Sullivan, Tipton, and Vigo counties... -
Beware of flooded roadways (Local News ~ 02/24/16)
Portions of Lone Tree Road outside of Linton are under water Tuesday afternoon following several hours of rainfall. The Linton Police Department issued a warning of the flooding on its Facebook page Wednesday morning, urging motorists to take "safe and alternative routes." (By Patti Danner)... -

Tire amnesty planned for April at GCSWM

The Greene County Solid Waste Management board held its monthly meeting on Wednesday. The board approved plans to hold a 'Tire Amnesty' day April 16. Tire Amnesty Day will allow patrons to bring in up to four off-the-rim tires to drop off at no charge. Customers bringing in more than four tires would be charged for any extra they bring. Tires brought in that are still on the rim have a limit of two, and tractor tires are accepted for a fee...
