Former Eastern volleyball standout Scottie Ingram recently achieved a feat only one other player has accomplished in the Ohio Valley Conference’s history. The OVC recently named Ingram, a senior at Murray State University, Player of the Year for the third straight season, the university formally announcing the honor at last Wednesday’s volleyball banquet. ...

BASKETBALL Bloomfield will honor the members and cheerleaders of its 2015-16 basketball team this Saturday, November 26. The Greene County Foundation and Wabash College will be hosting a civic discourse workshop. According to Executive Director of the GCF Cam Trampke, the workshop is the second in a learning series in Greene County. “The idea came with the election in having constructive conversation,” Trampke said. “We want to look at outcomes and impacts, rather than personal opinion.”...

The White River Valley School Board discussed the results of state standardized testing at its regularly scheduled meeting Monday evening. According to superintendent Bob Hacker, the results were mixed. “It is my belief that our school is doing great things,” Hacker said. ...

Doneva “Gayle” Cole, 86, of Bloomfield, passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2016 at Glenburn Home in Linton. Born Nov. 19, 1930 in Martin County, the daughter of Donald and Alta (Roberts) Hudson. A Jasper man is facing charges of reckless homicide after reportedly causing an accident that resulted in three deaths following a night of partying at Indiana University. Carolyn Sue “Ma” Arthur, 73, of Bloomfield, passed away at 11:35 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Born Sept. 6, 1943 in Linton, she was the daughter of Charles Brandon and Mary Margaret (Mullens) Hert. She was an industrial truck operator for RCA, Cook, Inc. and Baxter in Bloomington before retiring. She later worked at Yoho’s Store in Solsberry. She was a member of the Solsberry United Methodist Church where she was involved in the Willing Workers and the Women’s Club...
