Jessie is charming, polite spayed, heartworm negative, current on shots, house broken and vertically challenged. Born and raised in Bloomfield, 85-year-old Navy veteran Ronald G. “Ronnie” Bland, by all accounts, is a very loved man. His fan club includes members of his immediate family, area veterans, fellow musicians and most of the people he knows. Recently, Bland was shown just how loved he is by a group of Bloomfield NJROTC cadets, their Commander and the Bloomfield community, who came together to raise funds which allowed Bland to travel to Camden, New Jersey in order to visit the battleship on which he proudly served during the Korean Conflict. ...

David Lynn of rural Bloomfield said he was extremely surprised when he saw the story about Ronnie Bland in the June 29 edition of the Greene County Daily World. Lynn read that Bland served on the USS New Jersey during the Korean War, which was the ship that supplied some of the bigger ammunition to his battalion while Lynn served on the front lines in Korea...

Jack Ridinger dedicated his life to the community of Jasonville, and a long-vacant plot of land in the center of the city will have a second chance in honor of the late Ridinger.
