Brooks Green crosses the finish line ahead of the pack in the 7th Annual Open Arms 5K Run on June 1.

WORTHINGTON -- Brooks Green paced the field as the overall winner in Saturday’s 7th Annual Open Arms Spirit Sprint 5K Run at Worthington.

Greene, a 31-year-old Worthington finished the flat 5K course in a chip time of 20:01.5, 10 seconds in front of 18-year-old Lane Charlton, of Worthington, who was timed in 10:12.3. Jason Crites, 35, of Linton, placed third with a time of 21:40.4.

The overall women’s winner was 13-year-old Zoey Crites, of Spencer, who finished with a time of 21:58.7 – which was sixth overall.

The event, sponsored by Open Arms Christian Ministries, based in Lyons and Switz City, drew more than 100 participants in the 5K Run/Walk, Family 1-Mile Run/Walk and the Children’s Races at the Worthington Town Park.

Proceeds from this year’s event were earmarked to help support the new boy’s group home, which Open Arms plans to open in the fall in the former Lyons Health and Living Center building in Lyons.
