Two artists will be featured in the June show at the Carnegie Heritage and Arts Center of Greene County, located at 110 E. Vincennes St. in Linton.

Daily World Editor Patti Danner and Eric Wolfe have collaborated on various projects.

We asked Danner and Wolfe to tell us about their work.

“I would describe my work as abstract, definitely,” Danner said. “Also colorful and alive. My inspiration is life itself. Through my art, I express emotion and opinion that I don’t really express in day-to-day life. When I start a piece, I have no idea what it’s going to look like or what it needs to say.”

Wolfe’s work was borne out of a terrible tragedy.

“For quite a while after I lost my daughter in June 2013, I couldn’t write my thoughts, so everything came out on my canvas,” Wolfe said.

Both artists use a variety of tools (paints, markers, etc.) to create their works.

Their art isn’t limited to drawing and painting.

Danner said she likes to paint colorful designs on furniture and other items and Wolfe writes poetry and music.

Although Danner has been creating art since 2000 (she has done 60-70 pieces and has given many of them away) this will be her first public show and it’s evident in her voice she is excited about the opportunity.

“I do want to say that for years, I never considered what I do to be art,” Danner said. “It wasn’t until I had heard enough positive feedback from people I care about that I began to respect it as art and realized what I was conveying with it. I want people who see it to feel just as content as I felt when I was creating it. The details in my work are what draw you in and hopefully, give you comfort and a feeling of fun.”

Danner and Wolfe have been collaborating for a few years and, she said, their collaborations “always seem to work.”

Danner has returned to Greene County after briefly living elsewhere.

“We’re delighted she’s back,” Bri Karazsia, an Arts Center spokesperson, said. “We reached out to her to welcome her back.”

Danner and Wolfe’s work will be on display every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through June.

There will be an artist’s reception with both artists at the Carnegie Heritage and Arts Center on Thursday, June 3 from 6 to 8 p.m.

There is a mixture of new and continuing board members who are seeking to continue the work begun by Donna Kluesner.

“Our goal is to celebrate the artists and art that is in Greene County or have a Greene County connection,” Karazsia said. “We also hope to give upcoming artists, or those that want to give art a try, a place to create or exhibit. We are excited for what’s in store for the Arts Center.”

She said the Arts Center is hoping to have monthly exhibits like the one in June and they are planning to have children’s art classes before branching out to adult classes.

  • Love it!!! It would be a shame for either of you to think your work isn't art! Spread the joy 💖
