Richie Lee Whitman

Richie Lee Whitman 73, of Bloomfield, died on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital due to complications of renal disease.

Born May 17, 1949 in Linton, he was the son of Herman Richard and Lillie Faye (Rhodes) Whitman.

Richie worked for Hoosier Energy for 35 years before retiring in 2012. He was a member of the Bloomfield Church of Christ and a lifetime member of the NRA.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Bonnie (Workman) Whitman, whom he married on December 6, 1969; one daughter, Michelle Ernalee Whitman of Bloomfield; one sister, Herma Faye Hughes of Denver, Colo.; a brother, Alan Joseph Whitman (Susan) of Nashville, Tenn.; one grandson, Conner Phillips; brother-in-law, Bernard Workman, Jr. of Bloomfield; several nieces and nephews; and his four-legged companion, Sophie.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Brother Joshua Riggins officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview cemetery in Bloomfield.

Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
