Nick R. Burris

Nick R. Burris, age 67, of Jasonville, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Indiana University Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Sullivan on February 8, 1956, the son of Raymond and Ola (Matthews) Burris.

He was a 1971 graduate of Brian Adams High School in Dallas, Texas. He was the owner and operator of Burris Trucking for several years but was a semi truck driver since before he could legally drive. He was a member of Lawton Street Christian Church and Moose Lodge 1081 in Bloomington. He loved restoring old cars and enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to party and have a good time. He also enjoyed sitting on his porch and doing anything outdoors. His proudest achievement was building his 1984 Peterbilt 359 from the ground up.

He is survived by his children, Jason Burris; Matthew Burris, Benjamin Burris and Amanda Floradis; grandchildren, Stryker Burris, Gunner Burris, Liberty Burris, Taylor Floradis, Kinsleigh Jones, Avianna Rego and Carter Rego; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Eric Todd Burris and Robin Burris as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tim Burris and Ed Hoffeditz; sister, Penny Burch and second mother, Alberta Thomas.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 with Pastor Dave Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland .

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
