Kyle Patrick Eli Malone passed away peacefully on May 22, 2023 in Seattle, Washington. Kyle was born June 10, 1982 to Karen Ann Eli and Timothy Patrick Malone in Dugger. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in the class of 2000. He attended Ivy Tech at the Bloomington campus and later joined the US Navy.

He is now at rest after a difficult battle with epilepsy. Kyle is survived by his mother, Karen Ann Eli of Shelton, Wash.; his sister, Shayna Chance; brother-in-law, Seth Chance; nephew, Rowan Chance of Olympia, Wash.; his aunt and uncle, Lauren and Ed Gilbert of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; great-aunts, Carolyn Jones-Gorney and Sandy Ridge-Fisher of Terre Haute and his devoted paternal grandparents, William Allan and Shirley Ann Malone of Bloomfield. Kyle goes to join his father, Timothy Patrick Malone of Shelton, Wash.; uncle, Steven Michael Malone of Linton; maternal grandmother, Patricia Joan Osborn Eli of Bloomfield and his maternal grandfather, Ernest Eugene Eli of Madison, Wisc. in everlasting peace.

As a young man, Kyle excelled at sports, and had a promising future in athletics. His aspirations were tragically cut short by a debilitating arm and shoulder injury he sustained in high school. He was tested further by a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in 2016 that required a harrowing emergency surgery and a difficult post-operative rehabilitation. He developed epilepsy as a result of this injury, which he struggled with for the remainder of his life. Though Kyle faced great hardship, he never lost the positivity and curiosity for life that he was so known for in his youth. He relied heavily on his family and his faith, having been baptized to Christ in 1997. In June of 2019, Kyle relocated from the Greene County area to Seattle, Wash. in order to be closer to his family. During that time, he participated in an experimental Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) treatment to address his epilepsy symptoms. By doing so, he directly contributed to the growing body of research on epilepsy/TBI. His greatest hope was that his involvement with this cutting-edge therapy would support and uplift the epilepsy/TBI community.

Kyle will be remembered and missed for his indomitable optimism, his humor, his affinity for animals and his love for friends and family. Final funeral arrangements are pending in Seattle and will be announced at a later date.
