Sondra Dean Koonce

Sondra Dean Koonce, age 87, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 4:50 a.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023, at her residence. She was born in Linton on May 9, 1936, the daughter of Ralph and Margaret Mae (Schauwecker) Wilson.

She was a graduate of Linton-Stockton High School. She was a homemaker who loved to go shopping and traveling with her husband when he was in the military and around the country, but the most important thing she loved to do was spend time with her family. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 22, Linton Moose Lodge and was in bowling leagues.

Sondra is survived by her daughter, Debra Ferree-Eads of Linton; grandchildren, Timberly (Kade Puckett) Ferree, Erek Wilson, Shaun (Tabitha) Ferree, Bobby (Alissa) Koonce, Tasha (Jared) Sargent and Tiffany (David) Doyle; great-grandchildren, Bryson Koonce, Autumn Koonce, Aria Sargent, Ayla Sargent, Chloe Doyle, Kohen Doyle, Kash Doyle, Hunter Ferree, Finley Ferree, Ramsey Ferree, Jazz Ferree-Puckett and Alexis Ferree, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Koonce; sons, Robert Koonce and Mike Wilson; great-grandson, Ryder Wilson and brothers, Ronald Gene Wilson and William Donald Wilson, as well as sisters-in-law, Joetta Wilson and Evelyn Wilson.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Friday, September 1, 2023 with Jeff Fulk officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and on Friday from 12 p.m. until the time of service.
