MaKayla Nichole Sexton passed away peacefully at the early age of 23, on January 7, 2024, after a battle with Leukemia, with her family and her fiancé by her side. MaKayla was born on March 23, 2000, in Greenfield, to Dianna Adams and the late Marc Jones, who passed away when MaKayla was only two months old. She was raised in a loving home with her mother Dianna, her dad, Jason Adams, and her two brothers, Trevor Sexton and Hunter Adams. MaKayla attended school in Greenfield and graduated from Greenfield Central High School. She studied at both Ivy Tech and IU in Bloomington and Rasmussen University in Orlando, Fla., where she obtained her associate degree in nursing. MaKayla worked as a traveling Licensed Practical Nurse at hospitals and offices in many different states. Even while battling Leukemia, she was continuing to work on her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Henry Ford University. Makayla loved nothing more than caring for people. She was a very smart, happy, ambitious and strong young lady, with eyes as blue as the ocean. She attended Sherwood Oaks Christian Church in Bloomington and often spoke of wanting to teach Sunday School there. She enjoyed running and working out. Makayla and her fiancé, Nick, loved to work on rehabbing properties together and even had an Airbnb property that Makayla managed. Makayla had a knack for making things beautiful and making people feel loved. She had a rock-solid faith that could be seen from a mile away. MaKayla leaves to cherish in her memory her parents, Dianna and Jason Adams; brothers, Trevor Sexton and Hunter Adams; fiancé, Nicholas D’Ambrosio; grandparents, Phyllis Williams, Steve (Carol) Jones and Paul (Sheryl) Adams; four aunts, Trish (Doug) Sheridan, Monica (Chris) Sexton, Kim Frederick and Laura Adams; two uncles, Eddie (Sandi) Sexton and Chris Sexton; cousins, Taylor Sexton, Skyler Sexton, Avery Resler, Drake Frederick, Luke Sheridan, Nathan Sexton and Annyssa Adams; her two furbabies, doggie, Tobi Ryan and Gabe the cat; many other cousins, family members and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded by her father, Marc Jones; grandfather, Clarence Sexton and her cousin, Shelby Sexton. Funeral services are entrusted to Stillinger Family Funeral Homes in Greenfield.
